Sunday December 16(Final)
(1)Shockers vs Lynx(4) Game 1
Lynx ride 2 power play goals to grab series lead
With the special teams being a significant part of hockey, the Lynx were able to capitalise on their chances while the Shockers went empty handed on their lone occasion. The Lynx managed to kill off a two minute minor penalty late in the first period to keep the game levelled at one goal apiece. It was by the second frame that the wheels were in motion for the Lynx. On their two chances, P.Stroubakis and J.Lang each scored with the help of Y.Vanasse. Both goals came with crisp passes and in tune plays giving almost no chance for the Shockers defence and net minder. That sequence provided the Lynx a 3-1 lead heading into the third period where they bared down and shut the door the rest of the way. S.Catalano had the difficult task of limiting the Shockers to only one goal on 30 shots but managed to keep the goal scoring low courtesy of his brilliant play in net.
(2)Lynx vs Shockers (6) Game 2
Shockers offense kicks into motion after dry game 1
No matter how well the Lynx played the Shockers in the previous game by limiting them to only one goal they just couldn't do it for a second straight game. Good teams that carry plenty of punch up front may have a dry spell here and there but rarely for two consecutive games. The Shockers eventually broke out by the second period and carried the momentum until the early stages of the final frame where they strung four unanswered goals to take command of the match. And who better than some of their big guns to get the ball rolling. C.DeBonis and J.Blunt each scored twice combining for seven points while J.Blackman had his hand in the Shockers first three markers to help stage a comeback in the series. The Lynx felt they played a tight overall game except for a short span that ultimately hurt them in the end.
(3)Shockers vs Lynx(0) Game 3
Shockers crowned winners on M.Harrison shutout
The Shockers celebrated the E Sunday championship, and they did it thanks to an extremely typical methodical win against the Lynx. M.Harrison was brilliant once again stopping every ball his way and M.Blackman was the mastermind behind setting up J.Blunt and P-J Gauthier for a 2-0 lead. From -the beginning of game 2, the Shockers were successful closing out and wearing down the Lynx scorers. Even though the Lynx didn't get the help they needed, plenty has to do with the Shockers fantastic effort. By overcoming a 1-0 series deficit with two solid games, the Shockers felt worthy of what they achieved in the end. On behalf of HockeyBalle.com, congratulations go out to Matthew Blackman and the rest of his teammates for capturing the big prize.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Mike Harrison of the Shockers. With his team in desperate need of two straight wins, M.Harrision did not disappoint with two incredible performances that saw the net minder allow only one goal.
