Sunday April 28 (Semi finals)
(4)Lynx vs Slayers (8) Game 2
A.Mirolla leads way as Slayers even series with Lynx
With the Lynx taking a crucial game one only a week ago, the Slayers needed a push-from any of their dormant top forwards. A.Mirolla scored twice in a quick succession, added his third early in the second period and capped off an incredible four goal performance by feeding an empty cage .A desperate start was to be expected- from the Slayers. The Lynx understood this and managed to weather the storm even though they trailed 3-2 after one period. It was-from that point on that this game took one direction. The Slayers hit their fifth and final gear as early as the second period where they buried the contest on three quick tallies. All the Lynx could do at that point was to figure out on how to adjust in an ensuing fifteen minute mini game.
(1)Lynx vs Slayers (4) Game 3
Late goals propel Slayers
While the Slayers will be advancing to the final, the Lynx will be kicking themselves after losing the way they did. P.Stroubakis scored early on a power play, and the Lynx were awarded a second power play opportunity to put a strangle hold on the game. Instead, it was the Slayers that struck shorthanded courtesy of V.Confuorti. That moment in the match was clearly the determining factor on why the Slayers advanced. Since a mini game is only fifteen minutes, the Lynx knew that a 2-0 lead would have most likely confirmed their spot to the final. Still, they had a chance to break a 1-1 tie but the gamble didn't pay off. It took less than one minute for J.Scalia and V.Confuorti to score and ultimately put a stamp to the series. Both players each scored twice. For how close the series was, the Slayers were glad to be on the side of a storming finish.
(1)Shockers vs Icons(4) Game2
Shockers no solutions for E.Girouard
Yes, you can argue the Icons have plenty of players that can score and beat you in any kind of way. And maybe that's the reason why the Shockers didn't focus so much on E.Girouard and what he did during this entire series. After collecting a hat trick in the previous encounter, the right handed sniper re produced a carbon copied effort in this contest. E.Girourad never gives enough time for any defenders to reach his stick. Once the ball reaches his sweet spot, it's off to the back of the net usually, giving net minders barely a chance to strive across and make the save. But as much as Girouard put on a clinic, the Icons overall are a built power house team. The Shockers figured they needed to keep the game close for as long as possible but couldn't match up early as they found themselves trailing 3-1 after one period. Despite the amount of time left over, the damage had already been done. The Icons did an excellent job neutralising their opponent while controlling the game like they often do.
Now that the semi final round is over, the showcase for what many expected will feature the Slayers taking on the Icons. Expect this one to be close as both teams are well rounded and have all the elements to take it all. There will be only one are of the series that will determine who comes out on top. Since both teams really want to win and have plenty of pride, avoiding the penalty box will be their biggest challenge. This is the one area that P.Chiotis of the Icons and P.Kotsornithis of the Slayers will need to stress to their players.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Vincenzo Confuorti of the Slayers. His shorthanded goal in game three perhaps shifted the series for the Slayers. V.Confuorti tied the game with a man less, and added his second during the same match to finish with a total of four points in both games.
