(5)GK vs Black Knights(1) Game 1
Sluggish Black Knights not prepared versus a primed GK squad
The long wait before playing Game 1 of the final for the Black Knights proved to be fatal as they came out sluggish. Looks like the rust caught up to them as GK took a commanding 3-0 lead after one period. The GK were quicker to the ball, crisper with it and more eager earning every inch of a 5-1 victory. Eventually the Black Knights did get on board on a lone tally coming-from Z.Lasania. After trading a second period marker, the GK ended their night strong with another tally. The win came with an overall effort that saw five different players take turns finding the back of the net. K.Kuczmarski got credited the winner and M.Fortin was sharp allowing only one goal. Even though its only game one, the Black Knights will need to address a solid start in game two if they plan on extending the series. For now, they'll have an entire week to try and figure out on how to deal with a well oiled GK machine.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Mathieu Fortin of the GK. With goaltending so important, M.Fortin enabled his team to play with a solid lead while stopping 22 of 23 shots.
