K.Kavan responds for Punishers after Y.Derohannessian hat trick propels Orient in opener
On the strength of three goals and an assist, Y.Derohannessian was a man on a mission helping the Orient take a 4-2 decision over the Punishers. Derohannessian performed impressive stick wizardry overwhelming the Punishers defense and goaltender. It was only the first of two games for the Orient, who knew that the second encounter would come as a tall order versus a team that doesn’t like to lose often. And as perhaps expected, the Punishers fine tuned their game and came out with more punch soaring out of the gate on four goals in eleven minutes. This time, it was Y.Derohannessian’s fierce rival that took the reign and matters into his own hands for the Punishers. K.Kavan put together an impressive performance collecting four goals and an assist, and the Punishers needed each one of his big plays in order to re pay the price after an earlier loss.

Degenerates slow start sinks them in both games vs Classics
The Classics and Degenerates are no strangers to one another, and are two teams that don’t like going empty handed. Unfortunately for the Degenerates, some poor playing early on and some missed opportunities in the second encounter led to a pair of losses. The Classics was largely in control early on resulting in five unanswered goals. Even though there was a period remaining, the Degenerates were only focusing on a better response knowing they had another chance to bounce back and even the score. To there credit, the second encounter had a much different story line as they managed to jump in front and keep the Classics off the score sheet for most of the game. That was up until A.Heinen finally got his club on board that was shortly followed by a knock out blow-from G.DeMarinis. All it took was two minutes for a lead to turn into a deficit for the Degenerates, who felt they let this one slip out of their hands.

Nature Boys held their own despite dropping a pair to Bad Guys Inc
They may have come empty handed, but the Nature Boys saw some glimmers of hope versus a team -from the higher division. They showed plenty of effort and urgency and played well enough to make the Bad Guys Inc work for every inch. J.Cardinal was vital for the Bad Guys first victory stringing back to back goals for a 3-1 lead. Much of the second game saw some back and forth action with neither side getting an edge. However, that all changed by the mid way point of the second period when P.Jacques decided to take over on three consecutive goals in a very short span. His natural hat trick helped snap a 3-3 tie and secure the Bad Guys Inc second win of the night. M.Dubicki was very productive in both games finishing his night with six points.

Excalibur salvage their night thanks to S.Ruggiero’s late tally
The Excalibur will look back at one single play that may have helped them sleep a little better on Monday night. That moment only occurred very late into the second encounter when S.Ruggiero broke a 2-2 tie with less than a minute remaining. Because prior to that moment, the Prolific Athletes had their counter parts exactly where they wanted them. They had just come off a dominant second period of the first match where they strung four unanswered goals en route to a 5-2 victory. R.Rayappu nodded a pair while M.Dalpe had a solid outing setting up three goals. Granted, the second game was up for grabs but the Prolific Athletes felt they deserved better after finishing very strong in the earlier contest.
