D.Provost-Jarry swings pendulum in Altius favour notching two very late goals
(4)Punishers vs Altius(5)
It was the Altius getting the better overall start in this one scoring two power play goals by N.Kokovidis and A.Catino while M.Arkalis scored on even strength to provide his side a 3-1 lead. After that, though, the Punishers had the Altius on the ropes for a good portion of the third period taking a 4-3 lead thanks to some balanced scoring. With time running out, Altius needed some sort of miracle, and they got just that-from one particular player. D.Provost-Jarry showed his qualities why he can be a game changer. The gritty skilled forward pulled the carpet right under the Punishers feet on two late goals to swing the pendulum once more. His second tally came in the dying embers of the game leaving all but six tiny seconds left on the clock. From-the time the ball dropped, the tempo remained high between to solid teams with a lot of quality that saw this contest twist and turn a few times. Both sides are so evenly matched that it came to no surprise one single play would have made the difference. In tonight’s case, D.Provost-Jarry was there making a pair of big plays that gave the Altius the slight edge over a difficult opponent.
Legacy overcome slow start, down Azzuri in overtime
(5)Legacy vs Azzuri(4) O.T
Legacy turned around a weak start to defeat the Azzuri in an exhilarating come-from behind victory. Powered by D.Capogreco’s back to back goals followed by M.Delgaudio’s late first period tally, the Azzuri jumped off to the start they needed. When trailing, teams play with more urgency, and it tends to kick in unless your overpowered by a superior opponent. Even though they had a bad start, there is almost no way that the Azzuri would be able to hold off a team that has the skill and chemistry to battle back. It would have perhaps taken an extra goal or two to apply a serious strong hold. That being said, they nearly got there if it wasn’t for a late tally by J.Fisch to even the score at four goals apiece. Overtime opens the game up much more since its played four on four. And with both sides having the skill set to score at any point, its pretty much a coin toss situation on who would prevail. Unfortunately for the Azzuri, they fell once more on the short end when A.Stamiris bagged his second to provide Legacy the victory.
The SalumiVino player of the night goes to D.Provost-Jarry of the Altius. Just when it looked like the Punishers were on their way to winning the game, D.Provost-Jarry had other plans, netting two very late goals to turn a slight deficit into a thrilling comeback win.
