Stars kept responding every time the Hurricanes would level

The Hurricanes kept battling back tying the game on three occasions, but always kept falling behind. Almost immediately the Starts had an answer to break the tie and force the Hurricanes to work that much harder. They had no choice at one point to pull their net minder for the extra attacker. In hopes of generating a good scoring chance, B.Sorice didn’t allow it by feeding the empty cage . M.Braun would follow up as well adding another empty net goal, and the Stars held on to a hard fought battle with the Hurricanes. B.Sorice had a major input like he usually does by collecting five points that included a hat trick. F.Girard participated with a pair of tallies, and S.Sauk got the win over his counter part B.Verducci as both goaltenders was stern for their side. Losing is never fun, but the Hurricanes could take positives out of this one. Despite being down three times, they managed to battle back and even the score. Maybe a bounce here or there could have turned things around. That being said, the Stars are deserving for the result as they were able to pick up after themselves almost instantly and regain control of the game.

The Allo Mon Coco Ste-Dorothee player of the game goes to Frank Guerreri of the Stars. His patience with the ball helped generate a ton of offense for his side that resulted in three nice assists.

Golden Knights and Oilers engage in high octane offense

While many players-from the two teams were enjoying a big night offensively, the two goaltenders were left out to dry thanks to missed assignments and poor back checking. Tonight’s game between the Oilers and the Golden Knights was a test to see if it was experience or youth that would prevail. With youth comes the speed and will to battle for the loose balls which gives your side more ball possession. On the flip side, the Golden Knights have the awareness on how to contain and slow down a quicker opponent while knowing what to do with the ball as well. All those qualities are nice to have and teams will use it to their advantage. After both teams kept trading leads throughout most of the night, the Oilers found themselves ahead 8-7 courtesy of K.Olliveira’s second of the game. Since both sides were engaged in a barn burner, it was almost inconceivable that neither team would score with eight minutes remaining. It was really a question of who and when. For sure the onus was on the Oilers to play it out smart since they were the ones playing ahead. The strategy becomes simple, avoid odd man rushes and time your counter attacks. Unfortunately for the Oilers, they let the Golden Knights come in on some decent scoring chances where they gave up two late goals by E.Dedominicis and T.Nardelli. All it took was a short span of ninety seconds for this thing to flip on its head. Even though the Oilers dropped this contest, the loss will only make them better as a team. They have a lot going for them due to their speed and skill but could maybe work on their play without the ball. Its an area that can easily be addressed if they apply themselves . M.DiBello had a very productive night for the Oilers scoring four straight goals while K.Oliveira and J.Salvo shared three points each.
